So, if ever you needed a theme song for Valentine’s Day, T-Pain and Young Jeezy have you covered like a jimmy cap (get it? cuz of the sex you maybe having on V-Day). Anyway, with the upcoming Snow-pocolypse we are going to have in the DC area, I cut the list a little bit short for this go around. I hope to be doing these more frequent but for right now, real life is getting in the way.
There are a few tracks on here that should get you grooving a bit too, hopefully they can keep you warm with all the dancing you’d be doing. Unless you don’t dance and then, well that’s just lame.
My current obsession is with Local Natives, the album is rock solid and should be purchased [convenient Amazon link provided here]. Don’t get thrown off by all the weird moaning at the beginning of the track, the rest is great.
The B.o.B. and Yelawolf tracks are off their mixtapes which are freely downloadable on the internets and linked below. Also from a free mixtape is the SUPERB track from Mr. Dibiase. The mixtape is called “Loopy Jazzist” and is full of fantastic jazz inspired beats
Finally, intermingled in the Dubstep tracks is Vishis. This is the brother for Royce da 5′9′ and has a bad-ass flow to him. Seriously can’t wait for a mixtape or full album to drop, I hope for big things from this guy.
- T-Pain – Reverse Cowgirl (ft. Young Jeezy)
- J-Treole – The Loot (Sully Remix)
- Sub Focus – Could This Be Real (Sub Focus DNB Remix)
- MT Eden – I’ll Be There For You (Remastered)
- Local Natives – Airplanes
- Yelawolf – F.U.
- B.o.B. – Fuck The Money (ft. Asher Roth)
- RJD2 – The Shining Path (ft. Phonte Coleman)
- Strong Arm Steady – True Champs (ft. Montage One, Evidence, Oh No & Roc C)
- Mr. Dibiase – Fine Tuning
- Kid Vishis (ft. Ty Farris) – Young Go In
- Warrior One – Bad Like Jimmy Cliff
Love this track and love this remix of it.
Oh hell yeah, I can’t wait for this album to drop (March 1st BTW). Oh, and she’s so very hot.. (of course, not compared to my GF but still..).
Pretty sweet ass video..
Dan Deacon – Woof Woof video
Another week and another set of tunes. It quite a grab bag of genre’s here also. Do not forget to listen to the Cragga refix at the end of the post, probably one of the best dubstep re(mix|fix) I’ve ever heard.
- Motion City Soundtrack – Her Words Destroyed My Planet
- The Morning Benders – Promises
- Adam F & Horx (ft. Redman) – Shut The Lights Off (Caspa Remix)
- B.o.B. (ft Bruno Mars) – Nothing On You
- Le Corps Mince de Francoise – Something Golden
- Bob Schneider – 40 Dogs (Like Romeo and Juliet)
- 50 Cent – Do You Think About Me?
- Snoop Dogg – I Wanna Rock
- Paper Tongues – Ride To California
- Florence & The Machine – Kiss With A Fist
- Safetysuit – Annie
- Cragga – Please Mr. Postman (Dubstep Refix)
This track just happened to pop up when I was watching some videos for Dub Nation out of Baltimore (MARTYN will be there!!).. this is straight heat, love this track.
2010.. ahh.. the start of a new year all fresh and full of potential, so of course my water meter freezes over and I don’t have any water in my house.
Pretty sweet eh?
Surprisingly enough (sarcasm implied) there are some non Dubstep tracks on this list. Actually was a good year for dubstep and brostep, since the mainstream (mostly Hip-Hop guys) artists have discovered the bass heavy beats (e.g. Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Murs).
My only problem is that there really wasn’t a whole lot of “albums” per se on this list as the EP’s that were put out by most people this year were solid. I tried to avoid it, much like I tried to avoid Mixtapes on the Hip-Hop/Rap list, but it was hard and there were some EP’s that I really wanted (nee, needed) to include.

Anything that Joker touched.. seriously, I knew that guy was going to be hot this year. Loved every remix he did.
The Gaslamp Killer had some great sets done this year but his album kind of sucked.
Amanda Blank, David Guetta, The Bloody Beetroots, Diplo, FLYamSAM..
DJ Earworm mashup of the Billboard’s Top 25 Hits of 2009. Not bad actually.
Hip-Hop/Rap in 2009 was a very interesting and checkered thing. While we had some solid new releases from veterans like Mos Def, Lil’ Wayne and Jay-Z; it was hip-hop’s new class this year really shone bright with faces like Wale, Kid Cudi, Drake and Asher Roth.
#10 Slaughterhouse – Slaughterhouse [Wack MC’s]
#9 Brother Ali – Us [The Preacher]
#8 J Dilla – Jay Stay Paid [Mythsysizer]
#7 K’Naan – Troubadour [ABC’s (ft. Chub Rock)]
#6 Alchemist – Chemical Warfare [Therapy (ft. Blu/Talib Kweli/Kid Cudi)]
#5 Blame One – Days Chasing Days [Wonder Why]
#4 Jay-Z – The Blueprint 3 [Off That (ft. Drake)]
#3 Mos Def – Ecstatic [Supermagic]
#2 Wale – Attention Deficit [Chillin’ (ft. Lady Gaga)]
#1 P.O.S. – Never Better [Low Light, Low Life]
Honorable Mention
To be honest, this was a tough list to put together as there were a TON of albums that were on repeat for me this year. Some of the albums that almost made the cut:
- Felt – Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez
- Dizzee Rascal – Foot N’ Mouf
- Toki Wright – A Different Mirror
- Speech Debelle – Speech Therapy
