Truth in advertising

I was watching the good ol’ television last night while cooking my dinner. Being that I couldn’t get to remote fast enough, I had to sit through some ads. I’ve noticed a few things:

  1. How hard is it to drink beer from a can? Miller Lite now has a punch top can for a smoother pour. I’ve just never heard anyone in bar exclaim how if they just had another hole in the top of this can, It would come out so much better. Unless they were shotguning beers and I’ve not seen that in atleast a decade.
  2. The Shari’s Berries commerical was on every other break. In the middle of that spot these women start describing these juicy, large, red berries and how they can’t get enough of them. Then they go and say how they love having them dipped in chocolate.. I laughed each time. I wish I could link to a video but I couldn’t find one. Either way, watch Comedy Central long enough and you will see it.

Cage the Elephant’s song Aberdeen is a good tune:

iPod Classic is still the best iPod ever.

I’ve owned many an Apple product in my life. Some I still have, like my Classic. It currently houses all of the music that I acquired in 2011 and I’m slowly going through it track by track. It was supposed to be an experiment to see if I could build a “Best of” list for 2011 but that never happened. So now, I just listen to it when I’m in the car.

The thing is, I was planning of switching to an iPod Touch. I’m pretty sure that I won’t since I’ve realized that I don’t really care that much about having any apps available to me. I did once try the music guessing game on the device but when you have 3k+ songs on there, you are going to get some really obscure 30 sec bits.

Anyway this track from XV came up this morning, enjoy:

The one where I ramble on about christian music..

I’m not sure why this was such a surprise to me but there is a christian (is this a small c or big C?) rock/pop station in the DC area. I was enlightened to this fact during my shuttle ride from the dealership to my office. The driver would, between the hard braking and the sudden acceleration, start singing along to the songs on the radio.

They even have a wacky morning show crew.

Which brings me to Jars of Clay. I remember listening to that CD over and over again and never realizing that it was talking about Jesus, God or anything related. I just really liked that CD and especially the track “Flood”. I’m not sure why it was so affecting to me, I just remember that the the CD rarely ever left my stereo.

That was until I was introduced to Aphex Twin, DJ Shadow, Ben Harper and other types of music that year.

Molten Gravy Train of Pleasure [Mix]

Thanksgiving is over, so now I don’t have as much rage when I see Christmas decorations.

Enjoy these fine tracks. I love the Karen O cover of Immigrant Song for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, it may be my second soundtrack purchased this year (Drive being the first).

Seriously, the lead singer of The Correspondents. That voice is awesome.

Is Korn still a rock band? There latest disc all feature Dubstep/Electro collabs (Noisia, 16bit, 12th Planet). Oh, and it’s actually one of the best albums they have done in a some time.

Fuck yeah! The Silversun Pickups are coming with a new disc next year!
