Car stuff.
Holy crap, 3 posts in one day.
Anyway, I took in the bimmer for service yesterday night. The brake light has been on for a bit and so I figured a month later that it would be good thing to get that looked at and get an oil change. So I finally got a call from the Carmax service people about 20 minutes ago with an update on my car. Here are the highlights:
- Orginial worker quit or got fired so my car apparently got shuffled around a bit. I’m sure this contributed to the delay.
- My brakes are fine. Actually quite new and it was the indicator that was malfunctioning. Good for me since I didn’t really wanna pay for new brakes. Score one for the Extended Warranty.
- Upon further inspection some of my fluid containers were cracked and leaking. Which would explain nothing as I haven’t noticed this before but could be a result of some crappy repair work that I had done a few months ago with the coolant container. She didn’t really say which containers were leaking but I bet it was the coolant thing that was replaced. Again, another score for the Extended Warrenty.
- I also have been having some issues with the driver side light housing and occasionally it would register as broken and give me a rapid flash on the dashboard. They looked at it and it looks like a malfunction (again) with the wiring. Three for Three on the Extended Warrenty.
- They are gonna do a full system scan and oil change. I’ll have to pay for this, crap.
So the point being if you buy used, especially from CarMax then you should absolutely pay for the extended warrenty.
