Bad Idea..
I like cars. I like car shows. I like shows about cars. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Top Gear show on the BBC. Those guys are exactly what I would expect car fans doing a TV show would be like. Car and Driver is a good show but it’s not for me really. To little reporting on exotics (which is really what we really want to see) and just all around bland reporting on cars.
So I was pretty happy when Hoover told me about Discovery showing Top Gear shows here in the states. That was until I saw it. It was horrible. There is no other way to say that. It was at best a clip show with some crappy fill in’s.
So I was checking to see if a new episode was posted to FinalGear when I saw an article about Discovery doing a Top Gear USA.
This is such a BAD idea. Hugely bad idea. The beauty of Top Gear UK was the guys. They work so well together. Read about the new hosts. They should like several bags of douche. These guys had better be funny (or at least funny looking) and know their shit.
The saving grace for this show? The fact that this could show up on Discovery HD. Imagine footage of a Bugatti Veyron heading down the road at 200+ mph in 1080i? Now that’s HOT!
