Ye’ Old House of Sin.

First off, snaps to B4 for helping us move the last of our stuff. We had heard enough bitching from everyone else last year that we decided to forego any more of that (which of course means that no one can ask us to help them move… biiiaatches) and hire some movers. This was both a positive and a negative.

The Move

The positive of this approach was that we didn’t have to move anything ourselves. We also really didn’t have to pack anything either. While we did pack some boxes we ended up not having enough boxes so we had the movers pack. Well that and we are pretty lazy when it comes to mundane tasks like moving. What we didn’t know was how boring that process would be.

The movers showed up at 8:45 in the morning to get the day started. After some minor paperwork they started at getting our house into the truck. The movers sent over three guys and very large truck for the move. Having told them what we owned and that we would need some things packed we figured that they had planned accordingly. They hadn’t. Event the manager said that they should have sent 4 guys todo the job. What we thought was going to be about 8 hours for the whole thing turned into a 13 hour marathon of moving. By hour 8 they had just finished packing the truck and were getting ready to head to the new house. 8 hours solid of packing with no break. Color me impressed.

Of course that didn’t last while I was watching them unload and reassemble all our stuff. They rebuilt all the furniture that they had taken apart and carted stuff up all our 30 steps. Yeah, 30 steps in this damn house. I’ve contemplated just sleeping in the kitchen so I don’t have to climb Mount Everest up to my bedroom. Anyway, after another 5 hours they were finally done. Of course we were being charged by the hour so there was no incentive for them to finish on time. Either way we had finally gotten the house to ourselves along with hundreds of boxes. We built the bed and then passed out.
