Last week.

TiVo Series 3. Orgasmic.

I guess I was so locked up with WLW Plugin stuff last week that I missed some big stories. First off, I guess by now everyone has seen Jessi‘s post about the new chairs. They are fantastic, the first movie we watched was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I really recommend this flick if your in the mood for a kitschy (it’s a real word, Google that shit) crime drama with some good laughs.

Anyway, on with the show.

Tivo Series 3 unboxing pics. Wow, I totally forgot this thing was even coming out still. Anyway, upon seeing these pictures I really wanted to jump on to my desk and make a jerking motion over my monitor as I was quite pleased to here this news. Alas faithful reader, I did not. Not that it wasn’t appropriate or anything, mainly because I don’t think this desk could support my weight.

After further diggin’ it looks like the prevailing rumor is that it will be released sometime in the next 2-3 weeks (Sept. 19th is what most people think). You can bet your taint I’ll be there that morning so I can finally drop these god forsaken Motorola boxes Verizon has given me.

Apple set to showcase Movie Download service on Sept 12th. Okay, serious rumor mongering going on about this gem. Will they or won’t they release a movie download system? Will they launch a 23″ iMac? Will they launch a touchscreen video iPod? Who knows? Steve does. Either way, every one will be watching and waiting to see what goes down next week. Me? A movie download service would be cool. A movie download service with burn to DVD capabilities would be cooler. An Apple branded Tablet PC would be instant orgasm. On another large news story note, Eric Schmidt (aka Google CEO) has joined Apples Board of Directors.

Microsoft Vista RC 1 released to the wild. While I’m less and less impressed with what is coming out of Redmond these days, being an OS junkie I will be checking this out. Of course I won’t be using the 64bit version like I should since the driver god’s do not wish to bestow on me working 64bit drivers for all my hardware.

Mitsubishi launches 1080p front projector under $5k. You read that right kiddies. Front projection, full HD and under 5 thousand smackers. Hot like the first three letters in hotel. This is getting released to compete with Sony’s sub 10k 1080p (looks like sub 7k to be exact) jammer coming out later this year. Now it’s becoming more of a no-brainer for front projector. Why anyone with the right space would be looking at a rear projection HD screen is beyond me. The size to price ratio alone blows everything else away.

Up close and personal with Optimus Prime. Wow. I’m not too floored with the redesign but given that atleast OP will be in the whole movie unlike the movie from ’84 where he was only in there for like 15 minutes, I’ll be happy.

K-Fag appears on CSI. I’m so hoping that I don’t read the headline “CSI ratings drop through the floor, show canceled”. I almost burst a blood vessel I was so pissed. I mean seriously, the guy can’t sing what makes you think he can act?

Supposedly the Series 3 will be 800 bones.  Cox announced a deal with Tivo so that Tivo will make a special version of the software that can auto upgrade their current DVRs.  I was going to get a series 3 until I saw that.

If I was on Cox, I would definitely investigate the upgrade. But since I’ve ditched the world of conventional cable (read FiOS), I’m stuck with getting my DVR love from somewhere else. My issues with VZ’s DVR are not a secret and I’m really ready to dump them for S3.
