Working it.
so Jessi and I started a new workout regime. This one is supposed to get us fit quicker which makes complete sense since I went from working out a total of 60 mins a week to about 480 mins (8 hours for you liberal arts people out there) a week. The point is to get your body moving so much that it never has time to really rest and thus always burning calories, fat and generally my patience.
It’s no secret that I hate exercise, though hate is actually not a strong enough word for my feelings on the subject. I do recognize it’s benefits, the main one being that it keeps my ass out of the hospital as long as possible and all the other blah, blah nonsense the TV box tells me.
So this workout isn’t the typical workout regime though, it throws in some other things like Kenpo and Yoga. Kenpo is fine, it’s a bunch of kicks and punches that you do about 100 times in 40 seconds. My real problem is with Yoga. I am about as flexible as rebar, basically somewhat bendable but not really. So I was pretty interested in this workout as I would like to one day touch my toes, something I’ve never been able to do since probably when I was born. I also thought it might be a bit easier then the previous workouts since it’s supposed to be, or atleast I thought, a calming type of exercise.
Apparently not for me. I don’t think I’d ever gotten that angry at a workout before. I was so angry after about 5 minutes into that I thought about throwing my laptop out the window. I was kicking stuff around the room, yelling at the computer (“WHAT THE FERNANDO IS THIS GUY TALKING ABOUT?!” or “ARE YOU FRIGGIN KIDDING ME?!” and even “FRAG! YOU, FRAG! YOU, FRAG YOU!”) and just being generally pissed off. Adding to it was also the workout was the longest so far, clocking in at an hour and half. After about the half way point it actually got a bit better with all the dumb “Downward Dog” and “Warrior” poses out of the way and then started to focus on balance. After my work was done and I had showered and calmed down I then realized how angry I had gotten and was actually quite amazed at myself. I’m hoping this Sunday goes much more smoother then that last one.
